Review laser level Dovoh P4-360G

The Dovoh P4-360G compact 4D laser level projects four 360° planes: 2 vertical and 2 horizontal planes, as well as a plumb line, which is formed at the intersection of the verticals.

The device comes with a two-year warranty, and the projection accuracy is guaranteed for 5 years! You can purchase the device from an authorized retailer.

Unlike the previous 3D model Dovoh H3-360G, where powerful 110 mW emitters are installed, here are already 90 mW, but also used good glass with sputtering. Well, let’s talk about everything in order.

Housing

Dovoh P4-360G laser level is made of high quality ABS plastic covered with dense black rubber in some places. The build quality is very high, all parts are perfectly mated with each other.

The bottom support is also made of plastic. There is only one 1/4″ thread in the base, but a small metal adapter for 5/8” is included, so there will be no problems with mounting the device on various accessories.

There are also rubber heels installed, which will allow the instrument to stand stable on slippery surfaces.

The battery compartment closes pretty tightly via a rubber gasket around the perimeters of the cover, which is also definitely a plus.

There is a USB Type-C socket on the side under the rubber cover for battery charging and mains operation. A separate charger is included for charging the battery outside the device.

Plus it comes with two batteries, so you can work without interruption.

When tilted, you can see a lilac tint on the glasses, a kind of spraying that reduces the number of small stray laser lines, in this model they are not even present.

The protective towers of the Dovoh P4-360G laser level are made of metal, attached to the body through two rubber gaskets, above and below the glass, which corresponds to IP54 dust and moisture protection.

Compensator

The entire auto-leveling system is mounted on plastic supports with additional stiffening ribs. The time to set the compensator in its initial position is 4 seconds.

The leveling range is within ± 4°, if this inclination is exceeded, the level will automatically beep and the laser lines will flash.

Device control

The two-position toggle switch on the side is responsible for switching on the device and for locking and unlocking the compensator.

When transporting the laser level, the pendulum should always be locked to prevent damage to the compensator.

The keypad has 3 buttons on top and three indicators.
Buttons “H” and “V” switch all planes individually, you can select any combination.

With the third button, a long press (about 3 seconds) will activate the tilt mode (TILT function), and a short press will activate the receiver mode, the lines will be dimmed.

The compensator must be locked to enable the TILT function.

The remote control has only 2 buttons “H” and “V”, which can be used to switch planes individually.

Laser line thickness at different distances

In this test, the Dovoh P4-360G laser level pleased, its lines are bright, thin and clear.

  • On 1 meter, the thickness is just under 2mm
  • At 5 meters it’s about 1mm.
  • At 10 meters, no more than 2mm. That’s a pretty good reading.

Measuring laser line brightness

There are 90mW emitters installed here, which produce a pretty good brightness. You may notice that the brightness of the line is not uniform around the perimeter, there are brighter areas, and there are dimmer areas. This is normal for cone prisms and is not a defect. The measurements made with a luxmeter showed the following results:

  • At a distance of 5 meters bright side – 40.9 LUX
  • 5 meters dim side – 9.6 LUX
  • 10 meters bright side – 21.7 LUX
  • And 10 meters dim side – 4.0 LUX

You can also see a table with measurements of other laser levels here.

Declared accuracy (compliance)

The accuracy test showed that the Dovoh P4-360G laser level is much more accurate than advertised. It is almost perfectly aligned, all sectors of the lower and upper horizon pass through one point, deviations are minimal.

Adjusting the Dovoh P4-360G

But everything is not so clear with the adjustment. The thing is that apparently there is no provision for adjusting the laser modules separately, as they are rigidly fixed and glued.

On the one hand this is a plus, but on the other hand, if the instrument falls down and gets knocked over, it will probably not be possible to adjust.

But if there is a slight misalignment of all the planes, it will be easy enough to adjust. For this purpose it will not even be necessary to disassemble the instrument, it will be enough to remove the side protective turrets, and access to two alignment bolts of the pendulum will be opened.

By moving this bolt forward backward the horizontal planes will be lowered or raised.

This bolt is responsible for the left-right roll of the planes. It’s simple enough.

Supply set

The Dovoh P4-360G laser level is delivered in a powerful, high-quality plastic case. The set is quite good, it is worth only a magnetic mount with a microlift and a ceiling clip, which, by the way, you can change the thickness of the clamp.

Kit includes:

  • Laser level
  • Remote control
  • Charger with wire and plug
  • Magnetic target
  • Laser glasses
  • Two batteries
  • 5/8″ adapter
  • Lifting platform
  • Magnetic mount with clothespin
  • Instructions in different languages

Pros and cons

High accuracy, thin and bright lines, 5-year warranty on accuracy, four 360° planes, plummet, charging socket Type-C, good assembly and materials, TILT function, receiver mode, remote control, metal protective turrets with rubber gaskets and thin edges thanks to which the rupture of the plane is minimal, IP54 protection, you can choose any combination of planes, there is a network operation, extended kit, sprayed glass.

You cannot customize the laser modules individually.

For seven years I was engaged in various interior decoration and construction of country houses. Then I opened a shop selling laser and geodetic instruments. For nine years I have been selling and making alignment of laser levels, so I have accumulated a lot of experience in this area. Now I am writing and shooting detailed reviews of the laser instrument. For more details, see the page about me.
